MUIR WOODS

Muir Beach, Marin

Distance: 20 miles

BEST trail conditions: January-April

This ride is great for people that have basic skills, who want to enjoy beautiful views and flowy trails.

A great loop that includes several very scenic single track trails in the Marin Headlands and Muir Woods forest.

Ride begins with a climb up Deer Park trail on the edge of Muir Woods National Monument, with beautiful Redwood forested areas.

The ride continues with a descent of the Diaz Ridge trail, a descent of Coastal View trail, and a climb of Middle Green Gulch trail.

A highlight is the Coastal View trail, a 2.5 mile flowy single track that offers amazing views of the California coastline.

There's a big world of mountain biking within San Francisco, and it makes for a fantastic way to see the sights in a unique way!

Besides riding in iconic San Francisco and stopping at some of the best landmarks the city has to offer, we will be riding a variety of trails in Golden Gate Park, Sutro Mountain, Twin Peaks and Laguna Honda.

This makes for a combination of flowy single track, amazing vistas around the city, and a small jump lines.

CHINA CAMP

Distance: 10 miles

This is a great introduction experience to the thrill of Mountain biking under the supervision of certified, friendly and knowledgable guides.

You'll learn and practice various riding techniques, including body and pedal position, shifting, braking, climbing, descending, and navigating minor obstacles on the trail.

We'll also review important communication skills and trail etiquette to keep multi-use trails safe for every user.

This is one of the easiest single tracks loops we have in the area, with moderate climbs, beautiful views of the bay, and flowing and fast single track.

If you are intermediate or advanced rider, there is a backside with more advanced trails to spice things up.

MONTARA MOUNTAIN

Pacifica

Distance: 10-25 miles
Ascent: 2,000-3,500’
Time: 4-5 hours (pickup to dropoff)
Recommendation: Advanced and expert
Ride: All year round!

This is one of the most technical rides in the bay area, for advanced and expert riders, and is one of our favorite rides in winter, spring, and early summer.

This ride starts in the Blue Gum Eucalyptus forest with striking glimpses of coastal Pacifica.

Challenging switchbacks await you over granite rock mixed with red clay and higher up the mountain, each sequential elevation change offers a broader view of both the park below and the western coast.

This ride offers a combination of different single tracks with step climbs that will challenge you: flowy and fast single track, rocky/steep downhills with jumps and gaps, tight steep switchbacks. picturesque views of Pacific Ocean, El Granada and Half Moon Bay. The ride ends with a pretty fun jump line through the Eucalyptus forest.

SKEGGS

El Corte de Madera

Distance: 10-25 miles
Ascent: 1,000’ - 3,500'
Time: 4-6 hours (pickup to dropoff)
Recommendation: Intermediate to Advanced
Ride: All year round!

BEST trail conditions: February-November

This area can be enjoyed by intermediate to advanced riders, depending on the loop and distance.

Skeggs offers amazing flowing single track through a redwood forest in El Corte de Madera. It’s great for a ride on a hot summer day, when you want to stay cool.

There are many different loops that you can connect here. The area features a variety of interesting terrain, and links together some of the best single track trails in the area. Flowy cross-country and downhill trails are linked together with fire road climbs back to the parking area.

Skeggs offers a wide range in choice of trails, and most of the riding is in a redwood forest, giving you a mystic feeling.

The trails are a combination of fast single track and technical downhills, with rocky sections through manzanita trees. We will customize your ride to the distance and technicality you are looking for. Save some strength, as we park at the top of the hill, so the ride will ends with a significant climb.

PURISIMA CREEK

Half Moon Bay

Distance: 10-25 miles
Ascent: 2,000-3,500’
Time: 4-5 hours (pickup to dropoff)
Recommendation: Intermediate and Advanced
Ride: All year round!

Purisima Creek is not very technical, with climbs mainly in the shade and on fire road, but it is the incline on the climbs that makes this intermediate.

Fast, flowy single track through lush and dense redwood forest. This trail has it all, ocean views, huge redwoods, fern canyons and creeks. This ride features some of the best scenery in the Bay Area.

The trail starts with a steady fire road climb, surrounded by massive redwoods. This climb gains around a 1,200 feet in 3 miles, and has an average incline of 8%. However, the last part will have sections of 10%+ incline, so save your strength!

Old dirt fire road within a beautiful redwood forest that parallels a creek for almost half the way and climbs to Skyline Blvd, Highway 35 the other half. Not a technically but physically challenging ride - but very doable. It can be ridden as an out and back or by connecting through Hwy 35 north to Whitmore Gulch, a super fun, fast and flowy single track with views back to the car.

DEMO FOREST

Santa Cruz Mountains

Time: 6-8 hours (pickup to dropoff)
Recommendation: Intermediate to Advanced
Ride: All year round!

This ride offer one of the best flow trails in the area, great for riders that want to experience fast and technical singe tracks.

Soquel Demonstration State Forest is situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains along California's central coast, and provides the best legal technical and intermediate/advanced riding in the Bay Area. Mountain bikers flock from far and wide to ride this trail because it’s one of the best flow trails in the United States.

Completely machine-built and fast, the Santa Cruz Flow Trail is almost 3.5 miles in length with only 11 feet of elevation gain and almost 1,300 feet of pure downhill fun.

It’s completely machine-built with huge berms, small tabletops, and fast straightaways through beautiful and lush redwood forest.

To make it an epic day, besides the famous flow trail, you can add Braille and Sawpit trails. Braille is 1.5 mile downhill, zero up, it is a fast single track with several 1-4 feet log drops with options off the side and some rocky steep sections and Sawpit is a 2 mile downhill, with only 84’ up, super fun fast and flowy with a few small features and steep sections.

If you connect the 3 trails, you are looking around 25 miles with 3,500’ of climbing.

SANTA CRUZ TRAILS

Santa Cruz

Besides riding in iconic Santa Cruz, and our personal favorite trails, you will experience a scenic drive back to San Francisco through a coast line highway 1 with a beautiful ocean views, and depending of the hour, amazing sunset. 

Fast, flowy single track through lush and dense redwood forest. This trail has it all, ocean views, huge redwoods, fern canyons and creeks. This ride features some of the best scenery in the Bay Area.
